Maria Poveka Martinez (1884-1980) is probably the most famous of all pueblo potters. She and her husband, Julian, discovered in 1918 how to produce the now-famous black-on-black pottery and they spent the remainder of their careers perfecting and producing it for museums and collectors worldwide.  LEARN MORE

Maria Martinez signed her pottery with several different signatures which tell us both the time period the pot was made and who, if anyone, assisted her.  LEARN MORE

One of the Largest Private Collections ever put together of Maria Martinez Pottery was located in Phoenix, and now is available through our galleries website. LEARN MORE
